WELCOME TO SPINEFX
AN INITIAL TRAINING NETWORK
SpineFX focuses on providing training and research in the areas of spinal biomechanics and medical engineering associated with vertebral fracture. The project is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN), project number 238690, funded by the European Commission. The network comprises four leading research universities and three companies with a track record in innovation.
The SpineFX ITN delivers training through research into the three main spinal pathologies of osteoporosis, metastases, and trauma in a series of interconnected work packages across three phases: basic science, orientated research, and applied research. Training is provided in the form of 'experience through research', network-wide workshops, and personal professional development at the host institutions. Of these, the workshops are open to young researchers from around Europe. Details of past and future workshops are given under the 'Network Events' tab.
Research
SpineFX addresses three of the most prevalent and costly causes of vertebral fracture: osteoporosis, spinal metastases and trauma.
People
The SpineFX network involves seven partners. Each group has one or more young, enthusiastic early stage or experienced researcher. As well as participating in cutting edge projects, the fellows attend network-wide training events to gain key research and translational skills.
